»Conversations With Myself« wurde 1963 aufgenommen und brachte Evans 1964 seinen ersten Grammy Award in der Kategorie Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group ein. Außerdem erhielt es 1963 eine 5-Sterne-Rezension in DownBeat. Es ist ein Klassiker seiner Art. Für dieses Verve-Projekt nahm Bill Evans drei Klavierstimmen per Overdubbing auf. Der Titel ist treffend gewählt, denn die Musik auf dieser LP ist von überraschender Spontaneität, da Evans ständig auf das reagiert, was er gerade aufgenommen hat, und die Ergebnisse sind manchmal eindringlich. Zu den Höhepunkten gehören »How About You«, »The Love Theme from ›Spartacus«, »Blue Monk« und »Just You, Just Me«.
