Viele Male wurde sie bereits besungen, viele musikalische Meisterwerke wurden ihr bereits gewidmet: New York.Mit dem chinesischen Pianisten Lang Lang hat die US-amerikanische Metropole 2016 einen weiteren Bewunderer gefunden. »New York Rhapsody« heißt seine zehn Songs starke Huldigung.
Dabei handelt es sich um ein ganz besonderes Crossover-Album. Klassische Musik trifft auf Pop, Jazz und Filmmusik, Lang Lang trifft auf das »Who is who« der amerikanischen Musikwelt. Dazu gehören der Singer-Songwriter Jason Isbell, die Soul- und R’n’B-Sängerin Andra Dey, Jazzlegende Herbie Hancock, die Soulnewcomerin Kandace Springs, R’n’B-Sängerin Lisa Fischer, Crossover-Violinistin Lindsey Stirling und viele mehr.
Gemeinsam haben sie für »New York Rhapsody« einige Songs neu interpretiert und teilweise neu arrangiert, die in thematischer Verbindung mit der Stadt New York stehen.
