Die US-amerikanische Sängerin und Songschreiberin wurde bekannt als eine Hälfte des Folk, Country & Americana-Duos Civil Wars. Die Gewinnerin von vier Grammy Awards hat seit ihrem selbstbetitelten Debüt im Jahr 2001 vier Solo-Alben und vier EPs veröffentlicht, tourte schon mit Adele und The Lumineers und sollte mit ihrem fünften "Front Porch" auch hierzulande deutlich mehr Freunde finden.
Produziert wurde das Album von Matt Ross-Spang und Kenneth Pattengale (The Milk Carton Kids). Der Rolling Stone lobte die neue Musik bereits und schrieb: "...is both familiar and new, and explicitly clear that there's nothing missing when she goes it alone."
"So much of this is about coming home", sagt Williams. "Whether to a physical place or to yourself. The lines on my face, I can see them more clearly now. But a lot of them are laugh lines. This record feels like breathing more deeply into who I am. Come what may."
