Wir gehen zurück in das Jahr 1983, als The Gap Band „Gap Band V: Jammin“ veröffentlichte. Vom instrumentalen Auftakt „Where are we going“ bis hin zum letzen Song „Someday“ ist dieses Album zu einem echten Funkklassiker geworden.
The Gap Band remain one of the seminal funk outfits of the 80s disco funk explosion and their fifth album now gets a deserved re-release. They had given themselves a big task in following up the huge success of the 1982 The Gap Band IV LP. It had, of course, spawned "You Dropped a Bomb on Me", one of the defining songs of the decade and indeed of the contemporary funk genre. But with aplomb and finesse, the band returned the next year with The Gap Band V: Jammin', and only just missed its predecessor's number one chart position.
