Wunderbar aufgemachtes Vinyl-Box Set, welches die Alben “From The Cradle “, das mit einem Grammy ausgezeichnete „ Riding With The King “ ‚ (mit dem King ist natürlich kein Geringerer als Blues-Legende B. B. King gemeint) und das Tribute Album „ Me and Mr. Johnson, seiner Hommage an die Blueslegende schlechthin, enthält. Auf diesem Album coverte Clapton 14 der insgesamt 29 bekannten R. Johnson Aufnahmen, darunter „Love In Vain“, „Stop Breakin` Down“ oder „Come On In My Kitchen“ , um nur einige Hochkaräter zu nennen. Als Zugabe gibt es dann noch eine Lithografie des Coverfotos , ebenfalls im LP-Format.
Wie der Titel der Box es ja schon treffend benennt, sind in diesem Set alle Alben im Blues verortet, der großen Leidenschaft des Ex-Yardbirds, John Mayall`s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith und Derek & The Dominos Gitarristen. On Me And Mr. Johnson, Eric Clapton covers 14 of the 29 songs Robert Johnson, the most mythic figure of the blues, wrote and recorded in his lifetime. For fans of deep blues, it doesn’t get any better than this.
Riding With the King finds Clapton collaborating with the King, B. B. King that is. Originally released in 200, it was their first collaborative album and won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
From the Cradle, the blues cover album by Clapton, was originally released in 1994 and was the follow-up to his massively-successful live album, Unplugged. Stand-out tracks on From the Cradle are “Motherless Child” and “Blues Before Sunrise”.
