Ursprünglich kommt der Kern der Band aus L. A., wo sie sich in der hiesigen Punk-Szene bereits einen Namen gemacht haben. Als 2007 dann Vincent Hidalgo zur Band stieß, wurden die Karten neu gemischt und The Bronx veröffentlichten zwei Alben unter dem Namen Mariachi El Bronx.
Trotz des Auflugs in eine andere musikalische Richtung, sind die Jungs aus L. A. ihrem straighten Punkcore treu geblieben und haben nichts an Direktheit, Fähigkeit und Aggressivität eingebüßt.
The Bronx waren bereits mit u. a. Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, Gogol Bordello und The Killers auf Tour, wo ihnen die Herzen der Fans nur so zugeflogen sind - was wahrlich kein Wunder ist bei diesem Sound.

NME hailed The Bronx III as a “brilliantly sleazy punk rock’n’roll album,” urging: “Play it loud; for 33 thrilling minutes it’ll make you feel like you can walk through walls.” Since its release in late 2008, the band members have recorded two eponymously titled mariachi albums as Mariachi El Bronx and toured widely under both names.
