Vor zwölf Jahren überraschte Jazzfans rund um den Globus die Nachricht, dass in der amerikanischen Kongressbibliothek eine unbekannte Aufnahme des Thelonious Monk Quartetts mit niemand geringerem als John Coltrane entdeckt worden war.
Den hervorragend konservierten Mitschnitt des Konzertes vom November 1957 brachte Blue Note Records noch 2005, im Jahr der Entdeckung, mit großem Erfolg auf CD heraus.
Zum 60. Jubiläum erscheint er nun auch als Doppel-LP und macht sich so noch besser in jeder gepflegten Jazzsammlung.
