»It is a tribute to Duke Ellington that Dado Moroni and Max Ionata they decided to cross their artistic creations and sound in ›Two for Duke‹. A one-way trip to Ellingtonia, a land created by two of the most important artists of the 1900s, Duke Ellington and his alter ego Billy Strayhorn, a man who loved to stay in the shade, according to many the true inspiration of' Ellington's esthetic. But no matter who did what. What matters is that these two contemporaries have left an indelible mark on all music, not only in Jazz.
Ellington and Strayhorn have invented something that did not exist before, paving the harmonic and melodic language that anticipated times of several decades. Produced by Via Veneto Jazz and Music Jando, this record is a reflection of the passion that Dado and Max have always had for the music of ›Duke‹ which greatly influenced them in making them two Ellington ›maniacs‹.
In refined dialogue between two plane and sax is all the passion, love and admiration for the musical legacy that the genius of the great American jazz musician has left the world. Dado Moroni, among others, has long been working with Jimmy Woode and Sam Woodyard, bassist and drummer history of Duke Ellington, allowing them to immerse themselves fully in the original sounds of the man who, by many, is considered the greatest composer of jazz all the times. Sounds that we find in ›Two for Duke‹ also thanks to the extraordinary interpretive skills Sax Max Ionata.«
