A nice project
These complete organ works of JS Bach are nicely offered in this set of 16 CDs (with sticky papersleeves: this is the only bad point since you must pay attention to avoid the contact of the CD with the glue... it is a good idea to replace them). A trilingual booklet (French, English, German) of 142 pages is offered and is very interesting: it has been written by the organist, Bernard Foccroule himself, and the producer Jérôme Lejeune, who is well known form Belgiam music lovers for his critics and radio shows.
Let's come to the most important thing: the music. This integral work is very interesting for its program: each CD is a recital with diversity in the pieces (that are not played in the order of the BWV numbers) and coherence. You will have concerts in Hamburg, Bettenhausen, Groningen, Freiberg, Leffe, Ottobeuren, Muri, Norden, Amsterdam, Neresheim, Ponitz. This contributes to the never fatiguing listening experience since the acoustics vary. The recording project is a very mature one, and must be seen as the result of a long preparation: first pieces have been recorded in, 1985, the last ones in 2008.
Quality of sound is seen high in comparison with Walcha DG records (my first CD!).
