Wonderful box for discovering the legacy of George Szell
It was only recently that I discovered George Szell, but within days of reading about him and his reputation, I absolutely had to have this box.
I’m nowhere near through everything, but it has already proven to be quite a treasure trove. Aside from the wonderful recordings of works which were already firmly in my rotation, there are quite a few that I wouldn’t have bought or ever listened to. That’s the beauty of a box like this.
Hours and hours of wonderful music, exhilarating performances of the highest artistic quality.
The sonics are a bit hit and miss, but overall seem good for the period.
