Another superlative 5-star recording from Hilary Hahn
Unfortunately, there are not many new classical releases available on vinyl. Luckily, Hilary Hahn's Paris-inspired double album is one of those chosen few and it's easy to hear why. Hilary Hahn's soaring solos inevitably take centre stage, but she is ably supported by her old friends at the French philharmonic radio orchestra. A varied programme of work. Made all the more poignant by Rautavaara's unfinished serenades written for Ms Hahn and discovered by maestro Mikko Franck. The works were completed by Rautavaara's own student.
The transfer to vinyl is excellent and the liner notes are clear and helpful and written in both English and German.
A fine album, and all the better for being on vinyl and available at JPC.
