No one will regret spending time on this opera in a performance of this quality
Molchanov is considered a forgotten composer today, one of the harmful "apparatchiks" of the musical life of the Soviet Union. However, this opera deserves eternal life. It perfectly illustrates the horrors of the Great Patriotic War with a few people, even on a few square meters. All this in a completely unusual opera, sometimes with operetta music (he was also criticized for this), quoting his own Schlagers. At every bar he manifests the "great Russian soul". Molchanov's music is often considered a socialist realist, but this opera can compete with neo-romantic 21st century American operas.
The recording was already of a very high artistic standard (Molchanov plays the piano), the digitization was very successful. The booklet is the usual thrifty kind of Мелодия, the design is surprisingly good.
