Breathtaking and heartbreaking.
On the first albums one can hear that Tim Buckley was one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the midsixties, but when this miraculous decade came to an end Buckley had matured and turned out to be one of the real geniusses of pop-/rockmusic. For example 'Happy sad' and 'Blue afternoon' are masterpieces in the same league as Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on blonde, Music from big pink and the like. And sometimes I really think Buckley is the better one.... He is at least a genius in lyrics and in music. If possible I would rank his music on this albums 10 stars
Buckley became more and more experimental and groundbreaking is his music and arrangements. 'Lorca' is a salut from Buckley to a kindred spirit Gabriel Garcia Lorca and therefore deeply moving. Unfortenaly recordcompany-policies turned him away from his own route in the 70-ies wich made his later albums far less convincing then this five. This box really is a gem. With his unearthy voice Buckley makes every song breathtaking and heartbreaking.
