Superb
One never knows quite what to expect from a new Joe Jackson album - which in my opinion is a large part of the man's charm. This album is more 'accessible' than most of his recent releases, in the sense that the musical sensibilities seem geared more towards those of us who grew up listening to his music during the eighties, and a bit less towards the jazz/classical side of things. Having said that, one never gets the feeling that Jackson is dragging himself back to his pop halcyon days by trying to create another 'Real'Men, 'Is She Really Going Out With Him?' etc... no, there is nothing slavishly rehashed here - Fast Forward is a testament to the man's brilliance that he still has things to say; he's still got the balls to say them and the brains to say them in such a way that musically, he remains as important as ever, as both a writer and musician.
The quality of the vinyl is also excellent. I started listening to the album on Spotify - which was fine - but as one would hope, the LP brings another dimension to the experience and proves definitely worth the investment. The quality of both the sleeve and the pressing/sound are first class.
Thoroughly recommended!
