Excellent record and exciting interpretation
I have heard Rémy Ballots record of Bruckner's Second symphony now many times and I like his interpretation more and more - never boring- first for his choosen early version (Ed. W. Carragan) and even when it is often slow played and so in the tradition of Celibidache. Second reason because Ballot is able to held the motion and build the musical bridges without lacks. And the long breaks are no interruptions but part of a exciting interpretation of the so called "Break Symphony" a symphony too often in the shadow of the Third and Fourth.
And third reason for me is the first class suround sound in Bruckner's church St. Florian and the technique is excellent.
And the fourth reason to buy is his Altomonte Orchestra. Not as a first class orchestra like my preferred orchestras of Dresden, Leipzig or Munich but I feel the freshness of young members in combination with elder members who transport their great experience and love to Bruckner in the live performance. This is the fifth reason because I prefer allways live instead of studio playing Bruckner.
So don't hesitate to give this record a chance.
