Disappointment
I discovered Alexander Malofeev on YouTube and was very impressed. When his debut CD was highly praised by several music magazines, I bought it straight away. I started listening with high expectations but was immediately confused: what are those muffled sounds? At first I thought they were street noises, but then I realised, to my horror, that it was the piano action. The question has already been asked here: how on earth did this make it to release? What a disgrace for the production team, for Sony, and also for the reviewers who didn’t say a word about it (did they even listen?). And what a terrible injustice to Alexander Malofeev. The young man plays brilliantly in these Forgotten Melodies, but his masterful performance is catastrophically undermined by the recording quality. Tragic!
