Exceptional first complete Graupner CD-box
First rate recording by Fernando de Luca, who take care of bringing to the fore the wonderful melodies of Christoph Graupner. De Luca takes care to imbue a colourful fingering that is so rare to hear among harpsichord players of today. De Luca’s recording is a complete evaluation of Graupner’s congenial suites (partitas). I really love Geneviève Soly’s seven CDs of Graupner’s eight great suites of 1718, and the Monatliche Clavir Früchte of 1722, but these CDs on Analektra are between twenty to thirteen years old now and not so easy to find. De Luca has the added years of evolving research into Graupner’s music and the harpsichord research (both organological and technical performance) that we have seen of late. I also prefere De Luca’s choices of harpsichord to Soly’s, and his overall grasp of the suite’s emotional expressive potential, building up tendions and release throughout the at times many-facetted architecture. Bravo, Fernando De Luca!
