Während der Recherchen für das im letzten Jahr erschienene Bob-Dylan-Box-Set »The Cutting Edge 1965–1966« stießen die Macher auf eine Vielzahl von Liveaufnahmen des Musikers von seiner Welttournee 1966.

Überrascht von der guten Qualität der Aufnahmen entstand die Idee einer Sammlung eben dieser Aufnahmen.

2016 ist sie fertig: »1966 Live Recordings« ist die umfassende Box, die alle 36 Livemitschnitte aus diesem Jahr, darunter viele nie gehörte Aufnahmen, vereint.

Bob Dylans Welttournee 1966 in einer Box

Gerade einmal 25 Jahre alt war Bob Dylan, als er 1966 mit seiner Band auf große Tournee durch Großbritannien, Europa, Australien und die USA ging. Passend zum 50. Jubiläum veröffentlicht die Singer-Songwriter- und Rocklegende 2016 mit »1966 Live Recordings« alle bekannten Livemittschnitte der damaligen Konzerte in einer Box, und zwar auf sage und schreibe 36 CDs.

Auf seiner Konzertreise machte Dylan unter anderem Station in Sydney, Kopenhagen, Belfast, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Paris, London, Pittsburgh und in vielen weiteren Städten. Musikalische Unterstützung erhielt er dabei von den Musikern Robbie Robertson (Gitarre), Rick Danko (Bass, Backgroundgesang), Richard Manuel (Piano), Garth Hudson (Orgel) und Mickey Jones (Schlagzeug) – auch bekannt als The Hawks. Nur bei den Konzerten in White Plains und in Pittsburgh übernahm Sandy Konikoff die Schlagzeugparts.

Bei den gesammelten Songs von »1966 Live Recordings« handelt es sich um Mitschnitte von Mischpulten, des Publikums sowie von CBS Records. Nur wenige davon wurden jemals veröffentlicht. Alle Aufnahmen wurden für die Veröffentlichung umfassend restauriert.

Ergänzt wird das umfangreiche »1966 Live Recordings«-Box-Set von neuen Linernotes des britischen Journalisten Clinton Heylin. Er schrieb mit »Judas! From Forest Hills to the Free Trade Hall: A Historical View of Dylan’s Big Boo« auch ein Buch über Dylans 1966er-Welttournee.

Bob-Dylan-Fans und Sammler aufgepasst: »1966 Live Recordings« ist das umfangreiche Set für alle, die noch einmal den jungen Singer-Songwriter live erleben wollen – zumindest auf CD.

Zusätzlich zu den »1966 Live Recordings« veröffentlicht Columbia/Legacy 2016 »The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert« – Bob Dylans Auftritt in der Royal Albert Hall vom 26. Mai 1966, und zwar auf Doppel-CD und Doppel-LP.
