John Williams in Vienna dokumentiert den historischen Auftritt – »eine ganz besondere Ehre« im Leben des Komponisten. Symphonische Hollywood-Klänge auf der Bühne des Wiener Musikvereins – das weltbekannte Orchester spielt Kultthemen aus Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park und anderen Meilensteinen der Filmgeschichte. Als Stargast Anne-Sophie Mutter mit eigens von Williams für sie arrangierten Adaptionen für Geige.

Das neue Album »John Williams in Vienna« vereint Kultthemen und andere Meilensteine der Filmgeschichte sowie zwei bis jetzt unveröffentlichte, eigens von Williams für Mutter arrangierte Adaptionen für Geige des »Devil’s Dance« aus Die Hexen von Eastwick sowie dem »Raider’s March« aus Indiana Jones: Jäger des verlorenen Schatzes. Natürlich darf auch der weltberühmte »Imperial March« aus Star Wars nicht fehlen.

Die neue Live Edition von John Williams in Vienna erscheint am 5. Februar 2021 bei Deutsche Grammophon passend zum 89. Geburtstag des Komponisten und enthält als einzige Audio-Version das einmalige Konzerterlebnis mit zusätzlichen sechs Tracks und allen Konzertansagen des Meisters selbst.

Grammophon hat endlich gelernt sehr gute Aufnahmen zu produzieren, Ich bin sehr verwundert was diese Scheibe von sich gibt.
Mein Transrotor zeigt was er kann. Sie können mir vertrauen. Ich besitze einen Yamaha Konzertflügel und weiß wie es klingen muss.

Geschmacksache

Anne-sophie Mutter dient ganz offenkundig als Kaufanreiz, kommt auf dem Album aber nur kurz zum Einsatz!

Hörens- und sehenswert

Als Freund der schönen Musik des 20. Jh., der sich in Konzerten meistens mit der schwer hörbaren abgeben musste, ist diese Aufnahme die erfreuliche Ausnahme.
Besonders reizvoll ist der Hörvergleich zwischen DTS und DolbyAtmos.
Aber auch das Mienenspiel des Komponisten und Dirigenten, die mimische Zwiesprache mit der Solistin und die Fingerfertigkeit der Solistin sind gut eingefangen. Ein Lob an die Bildregie von Herrn Beyer.

Mein bester Kauf...

...er zeigte sich mit verblüffender hoher Qualität was die Aufnahme, Detailreichtum und Darbietung betrifft. Ich neige dazu zu behaupten, eine der besten (SA)CD zu sein, die ich je gehört hatte. Die speziellen Anpassungen der Titel machen diese interessant und zu echten Hinhörern. Ich hatte wirklich viel Freude beim Zuhören.
Zu dem Booklet werte ich nichts, denn bei einem Import aus Japan ist schon klar, dass es mit dem Lesen problematisch wird. Die Tracklist kann aber bei jpc bei der normalen CD entnommenen werden oder man liest sie im Display des Players ab.

Klanglich und Musikalisch enttäuschend

Die Leistung der Künstler ist hier mal ausgenommen!
- die Musik- Filmthemen sind kaum noch zu erkennen, teilweise...weit...weit weg vom Urthema, bis hin zur Grausamkeit. Aber das ist Geschmacksache
- Liveaufnahme.... eventuell...nur weil da mal geklatscht wird, ist es noch nicht original live
- die Klangqualität geht so... die CD`s sind vom Stereokanal her rechtslastig. Nein...nicht meine Technik oder meine Ohren!
- die CD`s wurden klanglich und vom Dynamikumfang her bearbeitet und " gecleant " . Mit einer Liveaufnahme mit Atmosphäre hat das hier nichts mehr zutun
- die Sieveking sound CD ist im übrigen nichts besser! Nur teuerer...
- Fazit: Geldvernichtung! Eine gute MP3 Datei tuts hier auch.
- Enttäuschend!
