Corigliano kehrt zum ersten Mal zur Oper zurück, seit er 1992 mit Die Gespenster von Versailles an der Metropolitan Opera für internationales Aufsehen sorgte. Die brillante Besetzung – die meisten von ihnen haben ihre Rollen in der Weltpremiere 2021 vorgestellt – wird von Star-Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo in der Titelrolle angeführt.
