Es ist sehr bedauerlich, dass Sir Arthur Sullivan außerhalb Englands ganz auf seine erfolgreichen Operetten reduziert wird. Gerade das kaum bekannte Liedschaffen profitiert nämlich von der schier unerschöpflichen melodischen Erfindungskraft des Komponisten. Als Zeugen fährt CHANDOS eine überzeugende Riege junger britischer Sänger auf, der auch Skeptiker nichts entgegenzusetzen haben.
