»The Wonders of the World« ist eine Sammlung von Lautenliedern des Lautenisten und Sängers John Maynard nach Gedichten von Sir John Davies. Veröffentlicht 1612, werden in den einzelnen Liedern nicht nur auf ironisch-satirische Weise Menschentypen und Berufsstände der damaligen Zeit charakterisiert, sondern etwa auch die Werke berühmter Berufskollegen wie John Dowland. Es ist so eine ungemein abwechslungsreiche Zusammenstellung von Vokal-, Kunst-, und Tanzmusik, die sich an die populären und aufwendig produzierten Masques im England des frühen 17. Jahrhunderts anlehnt.
