Francis Edward Bache (1833-1858) wurde als Wunderkind angesehen, von dem noch große Dinge erwartet wurden. Diese Hoffnungen fanden ein frühes Ende, als Bache im Alter von 25 Jahren an Tuberkulose starb. Er hinterließ das Manuskript eines Klavierkonzertes, das in der Bibliothek der Royal Academy of Music aufbewahrt wurde und das mit der vorliegenden Aufnahme wahrscheinlich sogar seine Erstaufführung erlebt. Ergänzt wird das Programm durch zwei Klavierwerke von William Sterndale Bennett (1816-1875), der zugleich Lehrer von Bache war.
