Der musikalische Ausdruck sollte das Ergebnis von Persönlichkeit und Erfahrung des Komponisten und nicht die Folge ungewohnter technischer Mittel sein. Musik ist keine Frage der Berechnung. Denn der schöpferische Impuls ist identisch mit dem Wunsch zu leben, das Leben zu fühlen. Dieses musikalische Credo des aus Mähren stammenden Bohuslav Martinu lässt sich an seinen Opern, Sinfonien und Konzerten nachvollziehen, die er auf seinen Lebensetappen in Prag, Paris, in den USA und der Schweiz in reicher Zahl komponierte. Aber auch Kammerstücke wie die drei großartigen Sonaten für Violoncello und Klavier verraten Martinus lebenslanges Bedürfnis, in seiner Musik das Leben zu spiegeln. Und so spürt man den drei Werken aus den Jahren 1939, 1941 und 1952 die Erschütterungen des Krieges und des amerikanischen Exils an - aber auch das leidenschaftliche Bekenntnis zum Tonfall seiner tschechischen Heimat. Tilmann Wick ist Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe und Professor an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. Er konzertiert regelmäßig im In- und Ausland und folgt zahlreichen Einladungen als Dozent zu Meisterkursen in Europa, Nordamerika, Asien und Australien. Pascal Devoyon, ebenfalls Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe, u. a. 2. Preisträger des Tschaikowsky Wettbewerbs von 1978, unterrichtet als Professor an der Berliner Hochschule der Künste. Konzertauftritte und seine Dozententätigkeit führen ihn regelmäßig zu zahlreichen internationalen Festivals. Außerdem ist er Direktor des Festivals MusicAlp in Courchevel/ Frankreich.

Musical expression should be the result of a composer's personality and experience, not of unusual technical means. Music is not a question of calculation, for the creative impulse is identical to the desire to live, to feel life. This musical credo of the Moravian composer Bohuslav Martinu can be sensed in his numerous operas, symphonies and concertos, composed in Prague, Paris, the USA and Switzerland, all stations in his life. But his chamber works, such as the three magnificent Sonatas for Violoncello and Piano, also reflect Martinu's lifelong need to reflect life in his music. Thus one can feel the shocks of war and American exile in the three works written in 1939, 1941 and 1952 respectively - but also the passionate confession of the atmosphere of his Czech homeland. Tilmann Wick is prize winner of international competitions and a Professor at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hanover. He performs regularly at home and abroad and follows numerous invitations as an instructor to international master classes in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Pascal Devoyon, also a prize winner at international competitions, including second prize at the 1978 Tchaikovsky Competition, is a Professor at the Berlin Academy of the Arts. He regularly participates as a musician and instructor at many international festivals. Additionally he directs the Festival MusicAlp in Courchevel, France.

Es ist immer erfrischend, wenn sich hervorragende Künstler, zu denen Tilmann Wick und Pascal Devoyon unbedingt gehören, mit etwas abgelegenem Repertoire befassen. Diese Musik ist berauschend und die CD unbedingt lohnend. (Ensemble)
