Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison ist Professorin für Psychiatrie an der Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. das Time Magazine wählte sie zum "Hero of Medicine". Die Autorin und Koautorin zahlreicher Bücher über bipolare Störungen leidet selbst an dieser Erkrankung und hat gelernt, mit ihr zu umzugehen. Seit 2010 ist sie mit dem Kardiologen und Medizinprofessor Thomas Traill verheiratet.
