Shane must reach deep to find the bravery to help his neighbors, after a severe storm has washed away access. Shane is about to enter high school, as eighth grade comes to an end and summer begins, he has to find a way to earn some summer spending money. His friends all have paper routes, but Shane decides to help his neighbors with the tasks most elderly people cant or don't want to do. As the summer sets in it begins to rain, it doesn't stop for several days. Then something worst, a major front moves in and destroys everything in its path. Now Shane must get help, he is the only one that rides the trails on his bike nearly every day. Shane is alone and scared, but his neighbors needs out way his fear and he presses on. He gets the help he needs, but not before he is nearly washed away from the Dam breaking and a wall of water rushes through the ravine. Now thirteen year old Shane leads a pack of volunteers to help his family and neighbors.
