Biografie
Woody Guthrie, geboren als Woodrow Wilson Guthrie am 14. Juli 1912 in Okemah, Oklahoma. Seine Eltern starben früh und so begann Woody als 18jähriger das Leben eines Hobos. Die ersten Plattenaufnahmen machte er für den Musikforscher Alan Lomax um 1940. 1943 erschien seine Autobiographie unter dem Titel Bound for Glory in Amerika. Als er am 3. Oktober 1967 in New York starb, hinterließ er mehr als tausend Lieder.§
