Thomas King, 1943 als Sohn eines Cherokee und einer Griechin geboren, wuchs in Kalifornien auf und studierte englische Literatur an der Universität von Utah. Heute lebt er in Kanada und lehrt an der Universität von Guelph. Er ist Autor von Romanen, Kurzgeschichten, Drehbüchern und Kinderbüchern, arbeitet als Fotograf und hat für den kanadischen Rundfunk eine äußerst erfolgreiche Comedy-Sendung entwickelt.
