Vor 54 Jahren öffnete nahe der Hamburger Reeperbahn ein neuer Musikklub, der Star-Club an der Großen Freiheit 39. Bekannt ist die Location heute natürlich vor allem aufgrund der Auftritte der Beatles und Rock- und Popgrößen wie Manfred Man oder The Rattles. Im Laufe ihres nur siebenjährigen Bestehens, von 1962 bis 1969, standen dort aber noch zahlreiche weitere legendäre Künstler auf der Bühne, die man auf den ersten Blick nicht mit Konzertklub in Verbindung bringt.
Mit »The Legendary Star-Club Hamburg« gibt es jetzt eine umfangreiche Compilation, die eben jene Bands und Musiker in einer CD-Box vereint. Sage und schreibe 200 Songs auf insgesamt zehn CDs umfasst die Sammlung.
Alle Künstler, die auf »The Legendary Star-Club Hamburg« vertreten sind, traten einst in dem legendären Liveklub auf, auch wenn die Songs der Box nicht dort aufgenommen wurden.
