Zwischen 1963 und 1968 schrieb Holland-Dozier-Holland einen Hit nach dem anderen für Berry Gordys Firma, ihre Songs machten einige der größten Motown-Namen zu Stars.
Von 1969 bis 1973 schrieb das Trio weiterhin Hits und Klassiker für seine eigene Invictus / Hot Wax / Music Merchant-Gruppe (ein Demon-Boxset ist dazu aktuell im VVK) und schuf unter anderem neue Stars wie Honey Cone und Freda Payne. HDH-Songs wurden aber auch oftmals von Künstlern aller Art neu interpretiert, und 'A Different World' hält 24 davon bereit von so unterschiedlichen Acts wie The Band, Dusty Springfield, The Vanilla Fudge, Laura Nyro und sogar The Fall.
Wie immer ist das Booklet vollgepackt mit Labelfotos, zahlreichen anderen Archiv-Bildern und ausführlichen Liner Notes, die detaillierte Informationen zu den vorgestellten Songs enthalten.
