HAVING A RAVE UP ist das zweite US-Album von The Yardbirds und folgt auf For Your Love, das im August 1965 veröffentlicht wurde. Abgesehen von einer Greatest Hits Compilation war Having A Rave Up das erfolgreichste amerikanische Album der Band und hielt sich 33 Wochen in den Billboard Charts. Der „Rave Up“, auf den der Titel anspielt, ist die Kunst, einen Song mit instrumentalen Zwischenspielen auf einen Höhepunkt hin zu verlängern, und wurde von der Band bei ihren Live-Shows eingeführt.
Das Album enthält drei Top-10-Singles, 'Evil Hearted You' (#3 UK), 'Heart Full Of Soul' (#9 US / #2 UK) und 'Still I'm Sad' (#3 UK), alle mit Jeff Beck, der im März '65 Eric Clapton ersetzte.
Die B-Seite der LP verwendet vier Live-Aufnahmen (mit Clapton aus dem Marquee Club, 1964) vom Debütalbum Five Live Yardbirds (ebenfalls bei Charly erhältlich).
