»The Rolling Stones: From The Vault – Live At The Tokyo Dome 1990« ist die mittlerweile vierte Folge seit dem Serienstart 2014. Sie zeigt die legendäre britische Rockband bei einem ihrer ersten Auftritte in Japan.

Mit »From The Vault – Live At The Tokyo Dome 1990« erscheint 2015 ein weiterer Teil der gleichnamigen Reihe von Livepublikationen der Rolling Stones. Vorangegangen waren 2014 die offizielle Veröffentlichung von »From the Vault – Hampton Coliseum (Live in 1981)«, »From the Vault – L.A. Forum (Live in 1975)« und 2015 folgte »From the Vault – The Marquee Club (Live in 1971)«.
»Live At The Tokyo Dome 1990« widmet sich einem ihrer zehn Konzerte im »Tokyo Dome«, das die Band auf ihrer »Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour«-Welttournee im Februar 1990 spielte. Tatsächlich waren diese Auftritte die ersten, die die Rolling Stones überhaupt im ›Land der aufgehenden Sonne‹ spielen durften, gleichzeitig die letzten von Bassist Bill Wyman, der die Band 1993 verließ.
Insgesamt 23 Stones-Klassiker plus Intro performte die Band an diesem Abend – ein Querschnitt durch ihre gesamte Diskografie. Unterstützung erhielten Jagger und Co. dabei von den Musikern Lisa Fischer (Backgroundgesang), Bernard Fowler (Backgroundgesang und Percussions), Chuck Leavell (Backgroundgesang und Keyboards), Matt Clifford (Backgroundgesang, Keyboards, Percussions und Horn) und Bobby Keys (Saxofon).
Ursprünglich wurde »Live At The Tokyo Dome 1990« bereits 2012 veröffentlicht, jedoch nur als exklusiver digitaler Download über Google Music und anschließend im Stones-Archive-Store. Nun erscheint das Livealbum zum ersten Mal offiziell, und zwar als DVD, Blu-ray, im Set als Doppel-CD und DVD und als 4-LP-Version plus DVD. Dafür wurden die Aufnahmen zunächst sorgfältig remastert und von ›Elite‹-Toningenieur Bob Clearmountain neu gemischt, der zuvor unter anderem für Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, The Who und auch bereits mehrfach für die Stones gearbeitet hatte.
Rolling-Stones-Fans aufgepasst: Mit »Live At The Tokyo Dome 1990« gibt es jetzt endlich einen offiziellen Konzertmitschnitt von einem ihrer legendären ersten Japan-Konzerte – umfassend restauriert und deshalb in noch nie da gewesener Klangqualität.
