1995 erschien 12, das dritte Album von The Notwist. Erste Elektronikschnipsel, für die Martin Gretschmann alias Console verantwortlich ist, werden in die Songs eingebaut. Auch wenn die Gitarre weiterhin das bestimmende Instrument ist, verliert sie doch wiederum ein wenig an Einfluss in den Songs der Bayern. Es ist die erste Platte von The Notwist, welche in den USA lizensiert wird. Heute gilt 12 als das erste Album, das den neuen Sound der Band zeigt.
