Mit »Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered And Unplugged« wird 2015 ein ganz besonderes Beach-Boys-Album neu aufgelegt.
Sage und schreibe zehn Alben hatte die Band aus Kalifornien seit ihrem Debüt 1962 auf den Markt gebracht, trotzdem forderte ihre Plattenfirma 1965 ein weiteres Album zum Weihnachtsgeschäft. Da die Beach Boys jedoch bereits Weihnachts- und Livealben veröffentlicht hatten und das legendäre »Pet Sounds«, das 1966 erschien, noch nicht fertig war, entschieden sich Brian Wilson und Co. dazu, stattdessen ein ganz besonderes Album aufzunehmen: »Beach Boys’ Party!« sollte klingen, als hätte man es auf einer Party mitgeschnitten.
Gesagt, getan: Statt auf einer Party wurde das Album jedoch im Studio aufgenommen, wo die Band mit Akustikgitarren, E-Bass und Bongos bekannte Songs aus den 1950er- und 1960er-Jahren coverte. Alle Partyklänge fügte man erst nachträglich ein. Dennoch landete das Album auf Platz sechs der amerikanischen Billboard-Charts und auf Platz drei in Großbritannien.
Genau 50 Jahre später erscheint mit »Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered And Unplugged« eine neue Version dieses Klassikers. Dafür wurde das Originalalbum von 1965 neu gemixt, gemastert und sogar noch erweitert. Gemeinsam mit Produzent Mark Linett haben die Beach Boys dabei die nachträglichen Partysounds wieder entfernt, um die ursprünglichen Songs hervorzuholen.
Insgesamt 81 Songs und Sprachtracks sind jetzt auf der Doppel-CD »Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered And Unplugged« zu hören, darunter unter anderem Coverversionen von den Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Olympics, The Regents und von den Beach Boys selbst.
Weniger Party, dafür endlich wieder mehr Beach Boys: Mit »Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered And Unplugged« erscheint ein oft vergessenes, dennoch außergewöhnliches Album der Rocklegenden in neuem Klang.
