Die Blu-ray Audio Disc (auch Pure Audio Blu-ray) ist technisch gesehen eine ganz normale Blu-ray Disc und lässt sich auf jedem Blu-ray-Player abspielen. Allerdings enthält sie keinen Videoinhalt. Die hohe Speicherkapazität wird für hochauflösende Audiodaten (Stereo und Surround, bis 24 bit/192 kHz) genutzt. Bedient wird sie entweder ohne Bildschirm wie eine herkömmliche CD oder über das Onscreen-Menü wie eine normale Blu-ray Disc.

The Alan Parsons Project »Pyramid« wird in verschiedenen Formaten wiederveröffentlicht, unter anderem als Blu-ray Disc (ABC Region Free) mit Dolby Atmos, 5.1-Surround-Sound-Mixen von Alan Parsons und einem hochauflösenden (96 / 24) Stereo-Remaster von Miles Showell.
Ihr drittes Studioalbum "Pyramid" wurde ursprünglich im Mai 1978 veröffentlicht. Es war ein Konzeptalbum, das sich um die Pyramiden von Gizeh drehte. Zu der Zeit, als dieses Album entstand, war das Interesse an Pyramiden und der so genannten Pyramidenkraft in aller Munde. Eine Pyramide war auf der Rückseite einer Dollarnote zu sehen, in den Zeitungen wurde über die angeblichen magischen Eigenschaften von Pyramiden berichtet und natürlich war das Cover von Pink Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" zu sehen.
Wie bei anderen The Alan Parsons Project-Alben lag der Schwerpunkt auf einer sehr hochwertigen Studio-Soundproduktion, und sie nahmen das Album in den Abbey Road Studios in London auf. Es wurde eine Vielzahl verschiedener Leadsänger eingesetzt, darunter John Miles, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton, Jack Harris und Dean Ford. Hinzu kamen eine Reihe von Studiomusikern wie der Gitarrist Ian Bairnson und der Schlagzeuger Stuart Elliot mit Arrangements von Andrew Powell.
Das Album war ein weltweiter Erfolg, verkaufte sich weit über zwei Millionen Mal und erreichte in zahlreichen Ländern Platin- und Goldstatus, darunter in den USA, Deutschland und Kanada.
