Junior Wells musikalische Karriere begann mit Singles. Von den frühen 1950er bis zu den frühen 1960er Jahre nahm er zahlreiche Singles als Solokünstler für viele Labels auf. Darunter auch viele für State Records, Chief Records und dessen Tochtergesellschaft Profile Records. Diese Stücke sind die Basis der Doppel-LP Cut that out! Wells agierte bei der Hälfte aller Stücke als Autor oder Co-Autor, der Rest stammt aus der Feder von Mel London von Chief Records. Diese Sammlung beinhaltet viele interessante Songs und Raritäten.
