von Soft Machine, etablierten sich Gong als eine der
einzigartigsten, innovativsten und experimentellsten Rockgruppen
der Siebziger Jahre. Absurd, anarchisch und kraftvoll-psychedelisch
ist »Camembert Electrique« das erste echte Gong-Album.
Ursprünglich 1971 in Frankreich auf BYG Actuel erschienen und dann 1974 an einen jungen Richard Branson für sein Virgin Label lizenziert, klingt dieses ikonische und einflussreiche Album auch im 21. Jahrhundert noch ungeheuer frisch. Durchgedrehter, weiser, überspannter Rock höchster Qualität – wie man es von einem der Gründerväter des Acid Rock, Daevid Allen, erwarten kann. Zum ersten Mal überhaupt wurde das Album von den erst kürzlich entdeckten Originalbändern von BYG neu gemastert und auf schweres 180g Vinyl gepresst.
Die LP ist verpackt in eine üppige Replika des Original Gatefold Sleeves mit sämtlichen Einlegern. Zum Entzücken von Gong-Fans auf der ganzen Welt erscheinen auf der restaurierten Version die Trackliste des Albums mit korrekten Songtiteln und Laufzeiten, die in den Auflagen seit 1974 falsch gewesen sind.

Absurd, anarchic and powerfully psychedelic, ›Camembert Electrique‹ is the first proper Gong album. Originally released in France on BYG Actuel (a Charly label) in 1971, then licensed to a young Richard Branson for his fledgling Virgin label in the UK in 1974, this iconic and influential album is still devastatingly fresh-sounding in the 21st century. »Camembert Electrique« is released worldwide by Charly Records as a strictly limited edition audiophile LP. For the first time ever, the album has been remastered from the recently discovered original BYG master tape and pressed on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. The LP is packaged in a lavish replica of the original gatefold sleeve, complete with all inserts.
To the delight of Gong fans everywhere, the album’s original track listing, correct song titles and timings have been fully estored (they’ve been wrong since 1974….!). Samples taken from ›Camembert Electrique‹ have been included on Gong’s brand new album ›I See You‹ recently released to critical acclaim. Gong are also performing a career-spanning live show which includes material from ›Camembert Electrique‹.
