The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Der Kalimba Song spielte sich mit den Klängen des gleichnamigen afrikanischen Instruments in die Herzen des Publikums, das den Titel ebenfalls hoch in die Hitparaden hob. Die Verknüpfung von groovenden Funk-Rhythmen mit Elementen aus Jazz, Disco, Soul und Pop ist das Erfolgsrezept für Open Our Eyes sowie für die Band. Earth, Wind & Fire schaffen es dabei, die positive Energie des Funk zu bewahren und mit ihrem Stilmix zugleich die breite Masse anzusprechen. Steve Hoffman hat den Stereo Mix auf CD- und SACD-Spur für Audio Fidelity neu gemastert. Das Quad-Mix wurde ins DSD-Format übertragen. Die Hybrid-Multikanal-SACD erscheint in limitierter Auflage mit fortlaufender Seriennummer.
Earth, Wind & Fire had been delivering great albums since 1971, but it wasn't until 1974 that the public proved genuinely receptive to Maurice White's mystical and unorthodox take on soul and funk. No longer would EWF enjoy only a small cult following. Thanks to the chart-topping »Kalimba Song«, the gritty funk smoker »Mighty Mighty«, and the unforgettable »Devotion«, Open Our Eyes, Earth, Wind & Fire's fifth studio album, went to #1 on the R&B Charts and #15 on the Pop Charts on its way to being certified platinum.
Funk came in different shades and EWF became the finest practitioners of that silky smooth style – a hybrid of funk that managed to keep much of the edge and energy of the original format, but proved to be a mainstream commercial crossover success. The album drew an overwhelming response from both critics and music fans.
»Open Our Eyes« showcased the click funk, infectious rhythms built on chunky guitar lines, Sly-like horn refrains and the edgy multiple vocals harmonies that became their trademark.
