Johnny-Cash-Fans aufgepasst: Mit »The Complete Mercury Albums 1986 - 1991« kommt 2020 endlich eine Box, die sich der Zeit bei Mercury Records widmet.Auf wahlweise sieben CDs oder sieben LPs wartet zum ersten Mal neu gemastertes Audiomaterial, und zwar auf Basis der Original Masterbänder des Labels.
1986, nach fast 30 Jahren bei Columbia Records, veröffentlichte Johnny Cash mit »Class Of ’55« sein erstes Album bei Mercury Records, in Zusammenarbeit mit den ehemaligen Sun-Records-Kollegen Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis und Carl Perkins.
In den darauffolgenden fünf Jahren veröffentlichte die Country-Legende fünf weitere Alben für die Plattenfirma. Trotz des großen Interesses und der Aufmerksamkeit, die Cashs Columbia- und American-Aufnahmen genießen, wurde sein Mercury-Katalog nie wieder aufgegriffen. Bis jetzt.
