Von Reggae kann man eigentlich nie genug bekommen, und von Bob Marley erst recht nicht. Und deshalb kommt die umfangreiche 5CD-Box »The Kingston Legend« des französischen Labels Wagram wie gerufen.

Die ersten drei CDs widmen sich den »Originals«, das heißt weltbekannten Hits der jamaikanischen Identifikationsfigur und damit Klassikern wie »Soul Almighty«, »Soul Rebel« und »Don't Rock My Boat«. Sie werden ergänzt durch Versions von Marleys ehemaliger Begleitband The Wailers, beispielsweise »Get Up Stand Up (Dub)«, »No Woman No Cry (Dub)« oder »I Shot The Sheriff (Dub). Coversongs von unter anderem Gregory Isaacs (»Slave Driver«), Luciano & Beenie Man (»Running Away«), Horace Andy (»Soul Captives«) Alpha Blondy (»J'ai tué le commissaire«) und Black Uhuru (»Sun Is Shining«) füllen den vierten, »Tribute« betitelten Silberling. Ein Konzertmitschnitt der Marley Family, der beim »Summerstage« im New Yorker Central Park aufgenommen wurde, füllt die fünfte CD.
