Features 115 key performances and over five hours of music representing some of he very best in black music from the 1950’s and 1960’s across a wide range of musical genres including R&B, Pop, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Gospel, Doo Wop, Jazz and Soul.

Includes the tracks which launched the recording careers of such major artists as Jimmy Reed, Gladys Knight, The Staple Singers, The Dells, Jerry Butler, Betty Everett, Gene Chandler, The Impressions, Dee Clark, Wayne Shorter and Joe Simon plus the definitive recordings by John Lee Hooker.

Discs 1 and 2 include the label’s biggest hits, chronicling its fortunes in the 50’s and 60’s. Discs three and four dig deeper into Vee-Jay’s extensive archives to feature rarities, key performances from some of its lesser lights and highlights from its acclaimed jazz and gospel recordings.
