Strana Officina gründeten sich Mitte der 70er in Italien. Die Brüder Fabio
(Gitarre) und Roberto Cappanera (Schlagzeug) begannen mit Bassist Enzo
Mascolo Songs von Rory Gallagher, AC/DC, J. Hendrix und Black Sabbath zu
covern.
Mit Sänger Johnny Salani entstanden erste eigene Songs, bevor 1982 der neue Shouter Daniele Ancilotti und ein zweiter Gitarrist namens Marcello Masi hinzustießen.
Zwischen 1984 und 1988 entstanden diverse EPs, die Strana Officina an die Spitze der italienischen Metalbands katapultierten.
1993 das jähe Ende, als die Cappanera Brüder bei einem Autounfall ums Leben kommen.
Was Led Zeppelin können, können auch Strana Officina - denn 2006 gibt die Band mit Robertos Sohn Rolando Cappanera und Rolandos Cousin Dario Cappanera ein umjubeltes Konzert auf dem Gods Of Metal Festival.
Seitdem ist die Band in mit diesen beiden jungen Musikern wieder aktiv.

Former members are the two brothers, Fabio and Roberto Cappanera (guitar, drums); with bass player Enzo Mascolo, they start to play Rory Gallagher, AC/DC, J. Hendrix and Black Sabbath songs after hard hours as ironworker.
The band with first singer Jhonny Salani wrote songs as "Viaggio in Inghilterra"(recorded on their first album in 1984), "Non sei normale", "Profumo di puttana", "Sole Mare Cuore" (never released but constantly played in live performance) and "Non c'è più mondo" (recorded in 1991 on Cappanera brothers solo album).
In 1982 with new singer Daniele"Bud"Ancillotti and 2°guitarist Marcello Masi, Strana Officina plays at the first and legendary Italian Heavy Metal festival with Death SS and other bands in Certaldo.
1984: Historical debut EP "Strana Officina" with italian lyrics.
1986: Second EP "The Ritual" heavier than the first and with english lyrics.
1987: The song "Non sei normale" on "Metal Eruption" compilation.
1988: Out the waited LP "Rock'n'roll Prisoners" confirming the band as the most representative of Italian Heavy Metal scene.
1993: after 10 years of hard activity and shows around the Italy, Cappanera Brothers lost their lives on a car crash, that's a huge hit on the national heavy metal scene and Strana Officina quits the career for this tragical loss.
1995: Two years of commemorative tour with Rolando Cappanera (son of Roberto) on drums and Dario Cappanera on guitar (Rolando blood cousin) After 10 years of silence Strana Officina comes back as headliner at the Italian Gods of Metal 2006 (one of most important metal Festival in Europe) in front of thousands people. Amazing night for the band.
March 2007: Strana Officina (Bud, Enzo, Rolando, Dario) starts to record an album with most famous songs and two unreleased songs. Out in june the new album "The Faith" containing all band's songs in English language (12 tracks), "Autostrada Dei Sogni" (from first E. P. 1984) and two unreleased songs "Officina" and "Profumo di Puttana"(written in the middle of '70).
2008: Out "La Storia 1979 - 1989" a 4LP-Box Set contains all the band production and other unreleased and rare songs.
2010: Out in March "Rising to the Call" the first album of the actually line-up containing 8 new songs and two unreleased old songs.
