“Continuation” ist das erste Solo Project von Earth Wind & Fire Sänger Philip Bailey das 1983 von CBS veröffentlicht wurde. Das Album wurde produziert von George Duke und viele bekannten Musiker haben darauf mitgearbeitet. Z. B. James Gadson und Ricky Lawson an den Drums und Paulinho da Costa (Perkussion). George Duke selbst spielt Keyboards und die Horn Arrangements sind von Jerry Hey & The Seawind Horn-Selection. Die Backgroundvocals sind von Philip Bailey von George Duke selbst. Auf “It’s Our Time” sind die Backgroundvocals von Jeffrey Osborne und Sister Sledge hat mitgemacht auf “Desire”. Wir hören auf diesem Album Philip Bailey mit seinem natürlichen Tenor Stimme und nicht wie gewöhnt in Earth Wind & Fire mit seiner hohen Falsett-Stimme. Der erste Singlerelease von “Continuation” war “I know”, wurde jedoch kein riesiger Hit. Die besten Tracks dieses Albums sind die Ballade “Vaya (go with love)” und die starke Melodies “The good guy’s supposed to get the girl” und “Your Boyfriend’s Back”.
“CONTINUATION” is the first solo album which EARTH WIND & FIRE vocalist PHILIP BAILEY made in 1983 for CBS. After the release of the album "ELECTRIC UNIVERSE", EW&F took a break so Bailey had time to work on his solo career. The album was produced by GEORGE DUKE and it features musical contributions from crème de la crème musicians such as NATHAN EAST on bass, JAMES GADSON, RICKY LAWSON on Drums and PAULINHO DA COSTA on percussion. GEORGE DUKE himself plays the keyboards and the horn arrangements are from JERRY HEY & the Seawind horn selection. The background vocals are by PHILIP BAILEY and GEORGE DUKE and on “IT'S OUR TIME”, JEFFREY OSBORNE is featured. The famous SISTER SLEDGE is contributing on “DESIRE”. We can hear Bailey singing in his natural tenor instead of the falsetto he used to sing with Earth, Wind & Fire. The title “I KNOW” received reasonable good air- and club play but for the most part the record was ignored. "VAYA (Go with love)" is the best ballad on the album. Other strong melodies are “THE GOOD GUY'S SUPPOSED TO GET THE GIRL” and “YOUR BOYFRIEND'S BACK".
