Peter La Farge, indianischer Aktivist, Folksänger, Veteran des Koreakrieges und Rodeo-Bullenreiter hat in den 33 Jahren seines kurzen Lebens viel erlebt. Am besten in Erinnerung geblieben ist er als Autor von 'Ballad Of Ira Hayes', einem Hit für Johnny Cash aus dem Jahre 1964, in dem der tragische Tod eines Kriegshelden festgehalten wird. Die Zusammenstellung mit 27 Songs enthält zwei komplette Folkways-Alben (1964 / 65) von Peter LaFarge, die sich mit der Lage der Ureinwohner Amerikas befassen. (Das Original von 'Ballad Of Ira Hayes' ist dabei). Als Sänger oder Gitarrist reißt er keine Bäume aus; doch LaFarge war ein starker politischer Folksänger und Fürsprecher seines Volkes. Mit seinen aussagestarken Liedern voller Wut besaß er eine Sensibilität für dieses Thema die ihrer Zeit weit voraus war.
