The "Ile Orin" (House Music) ritual continues on this 19th edition of the acclaimed Mix The Vibe series with none other than spiritual ethno-producer and ordained priest in the West African religion of Ifa, namely Osunlade.
He invokes a veritable mix of uplifting soul, light tribal dance, and deep grooves to grace this King Street Goes Yoruba debut comp, featuring everyone from dance legends Blaze, Mateo & Matos, Larry Heard, Roy Davis Jr. (aka Infinity) and Kerri Chandler to modern electronic wunderkinds Tiger Stripes, Studio Apartment and Quentin Harris. Among the slew of King Street & Nite Grooves releases, Osunlade mixes in artists from his own heavy head-nodding imprint Yoruba (another term for his religion) Records, such as Afefe Iku, Oveous Maximus, and Gabriel Poso.
He is the most profoundly spiritual producer we´ve ever featured on the series, joining 18 predecessors of the highest ranks of House DJ/Producers from Joe Claussell, Ron Trent, Grammy Award Winners Louie Vega & David Morales, Teddy Douglas & DJ Spen (aka Basement Boys & Muthafunkaz), to Danny Krivit, Tony Humphries, and a ton of others who superbly compiled and mixed these compilations in the past.
