Die Zusammenstellung mit den besten frühen Aufnahmen von Johnny Cash, von den Originalbändern aus den Sun-Archiven überspielt und somit in bestmöglicher Sound-Qualität. Nachdem Cash 1954 nach Memphis gezogen war, um dort als Radioansager zu arbeiten (und nebenbei abends Country Music zu spielen!), wurde er zusammen mit seiner Band, den Tennessee Two (Luther Perkins – Gitarre, Marshall Grant – Bass), Ende 1954 oder Anfang 1955 zu Probeaufnahmen in die Sun Studios eingeladen. Für Sun nahm Cash in der Folgezeit u. a. spätere Klassiker wie ‚Folsom Prison Blues‘, ‚I Walk The Line‘ und ‚Get Rhythm’ auf, bevor er 1958 zu Columbia wechselte.
