Johnny Ace war ein US-amerikanischer Rhythm & Blues Musiker, der sich 1949 den Beagles Street Blue Boys
anschloss. Die zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch unbekannte Gruppe bestand zum Teil aus Musikern wie B. B. King und
Bobby "Blue" Bland, die in den Jahren darauf zu erfolgreichen Blues- und Rhythm and Blues-Interpreten werden sollten. Nach mehreren erfolgreichen Jahren mit diversen Hits kam er Ende 1954 auf tragische Weise um.
Das vorliegende Album umfasst alle Soloaufnahmen des Künstlers inklusive seiner 8 Top 10 Hits und Aufnahmen mit Earl Forest, B. B. King und Bobby Bland. Das 2CD-Set enthält 55 Songs mit einem umfangreich illustrierten Booklet inklusive einem Essay und einer Sessionography des R&B Fachmanns Dave Penny.
