Sicher eins seiner besten Konzerte

Klasse Konzert, toller Sound. Musikalisch vom aller Feinsten. Empfehlung: schaut Euch mal die BluRay an.

John Mayer hoch 3

Diese Doppel-CD bietet im Prinzip drei Konzerte in einem. Zunächst John Mayer solo und akustisch, wunderschön "Daughters" und endend mit einer schönen Version von Tom Pettys "Free Fallin'". Dann geht es härter zur Sache, das John Mayer Trio mit Pino Palladino (b) und Steve Jordan (dr) mit den Highlights "Vultures" und der Coverversion von Hendrix' "Bold as love".
Die zweite CD wird dann komplett von der gesamten JM-Band bestritten, das wäre dann das dritte Konzert und das ist straighter Rock at ist best.

Perfekte Mischung

John Mayer spielt drei Sets: Akustisch, Trio und mit gesamter Band. Die daraus resultierende Bandbreite innerhalb eines Konzertes ist eindrucksvoll.

1. Akustik-Set:
Man höre nur die Intepretationen von Neon und Daughters - besser geht es nicht. Mit Robbie McIntosh (früher u.a. bei Paul Mc Cartney) hat John einen kongenialen musikalischen Partner, dessen Erfahrung deutlich abfärbt. So relaxed und tiefgründig hat John Mayer selten gespielt.

2. John Mayer Trio
Blues-Rock vom Feinsten! Dieses Trio hat eine Power, die ihresgleichen sucht. Pino Palladino am Baß ist eine Bank aber Steve Jordan an den Drums ist ein Highlight. Man muß sich nur einmal ein Stück ohne Ton anhören und dabei auf die Drums achten. Man wird schon dann unweigerlich mitgerissen. Dazu ein John Mayer in absoluter Topform, stimmlich und gitarristisch. Es hätte völlig ausgereicht, nur dieses Set auf die DVD zu pressen, um rundum zufrieden zu sein.

3. Band-Set
Obendrauf gibt es noch ein Set mit der gesamten Band und die erwarteten Hits. Nicht so powerful wie das Trio aber ebenfalls rundum gelungen.

Alles in allem eine perfekte Konzert DVD, die die enorme Bandbreite dieses einzigartigen Musikers zeigt. Daneben gibt es kurze Backstage-Ausschnitte und Kommentare. Uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung!

Toller Triple-Act

Es macht einfach Spass John Mayer`s Gitarrenspiel zu geniessen.
Die DVD ist in 3 Abschnitte unterteilt (Solo, Trio, Band) und jeder Act hat seine eigenen Reize.
Der Auftritt als Trio dürfte wohl ein Leckerbissen für Freunde dieser Musik (Blues, mal rockig, mal jazzig) sein.
