Frankie, the ultimate ‘boy next door’, was the Frank Sinatra of the ‘bobby sox’ generation. One of American’s most popular teen idols of the late Fifties, Frankie Avalon was a singer and movie actor who enjoyed more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the U. S. and around the world. He started out as a boy trumpet player before becoming pop singer. The breakthrough came when Avalon, born in Philadelphia in 1939, scored a Number 7 Billboard hit with ‘DeDe Dinah’ in 1958. More hit singles followed, including ‘Ginger Bread’, ‘Bobby Sox to Stockings’ and the Number One smashes ‘Venus’ and ‘Why’ all included on this 24 track CD.
