The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Für das selbstbetitelte Album Dire Straits begab sich die Band am 13. Februar 1978 in die Basing St. Studios in London, um die bereits auf dem Demotape eingespielten Lieder nun professionell aufzunehmen und abzumischen. Dire Straits wurde schließlich am 9. Juni 1978 veröffentlicht.
Auf dem Album enthalten war unter anderem die spätere Single Sultans of Swing, die den ersten großen Erfolg der Band darstellte. Das Album Dire Straits erreichte im Jahr 1979 Platz zwei der US-amerikanischen Billboard 200, die Single Sultans of Swing erreichte im selben Jahr Platz vier der Billboard Hot 100. (Wikipedia)
